Email bounce cost calculator
Put in your own numbers. The page shows what bounced sends cost you, where your bounce rate sits against the limits one large sending service publishes, and what checking the list first would cost. Every formula is printed under the result. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
The numbers already in the boxes are examples, not facts about your list. Change every one of them. The share of bounces removed starts empty: only you can estimate it.
Your bounce rate:

bounced emails a month. Wasted on sending: a month, a year.
Checking the whole list once:
Bounce rate after the check, at your estimate:
Sending cost saved: a month. The check pays for itself in .
How it is worked out
- Bounced emails a month = addresses x sends a month x bounce rate:
- Wasted on sending = bounced emails x price per 1,000 / 1,000:
- Cost to check the list = addresses x verification price per 1,000 / 1,000:
- Bounce rate after = bounce rate x (1 - share removed):
- Saved a month = wasted on sending x share removed:
Sending cost is usually the small part. The larger risk is your sender reputation: a high bounce rate can push your good emails to spam or get sending paused. This page does not put a dollar figure on that, because it depends on your list and your sending service.
Thresholds used
From the Amazon SES sending review FAQ (read October 20, 2026): keep the bounce rate below 2% for best results; at 5% or more the account is placed under review; at 10% or more sending might be paused. These are Amazon SES rules. Your email platform may use different ones.
Where bounces come from, and what each check can catch
Typos in the domain, domains with no mail server and throwaway addresses can be caught before an address is saved. ContactLint checks those at the form or in a CRM import. Mailboxes that never existed on a real domain need a mailbox verifier, and catch-all domains stay uncertain with any tool. Compare 47 verification tools on price, free checks, credit expiry and catch-all handling.
