1. What we collect
- Signup. Your email address is used to check signup limits. We store a one-way hash of it, not the address itself. You may add a label to your key. We do not send you email at signup.
- API keys. We store a one-way hash of each key and its first characters (a prefix) so we can recognize it. We cannot recover your full key.
- Usage. For each check we record which key made it, whether it was an email or phone check, whether it used a free check or a credit, and the time. We keep monthly usage counts and your credit balance.
- Emails and phone numbers you check. We process them only to return a result. We do not store them in our database.
- Network data. Your IP address is used briefly for rate limiting and abuse prevention (IPv6 grouped by /48) and is cleared from our counters after the rate-limit window passes. Cloudflare, which hosts the Service, processes IP addresses and request data to deliver and protect it.
- No analytics. contactlint.com does not use website analytics or tracking cookies.
- Payments. Stripe processes payments. We receive the purchase details and payment status, not your full card number.
2. How we use it
- To run the checks you ask for and return results.
- To enforce free-tier limits, credits and rate limits, and to prevent abuse.
- To process payments and keep business records.
- To keep the Service secure and fix problems. We do not use the emails or phone numbers you check for anything else.
3. Who processes it
- Cloudflare: hosting, database, DNS-over-HTTPS lookups (the domain part of an email you check is sent to Cloudflare's DNS resolver), and the Turnstile verification challenge at signup.
- Stripe: payments for credit packs.
- Twilio: only if carrier lookups are added in the future; the phone number would be sent to Twilio to get line-type data. This is not active today. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business.
4. We do not sell your data
We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.
5. Retention
- Rate-limit counters: until the limit window passes.
- Payment records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Checked emails and phone numbers: not stored.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to disable your key and delete the data tied to it, or ask what we hold. Because we store your email only as a hash, include the key prefix or the email you signed up with so we can find it. Email support@contactlint.com. Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under your state's law, and we will honor them.
7. Security
API keys and signup emails are stored only as hashes, the Service runs over HTTPS, and access to our systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure.
8. Children
ContactLint is a developer tool for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date will change, and significant changes will be noted on the site.
